You have just given birth, therefore you are in the phase of learning to know your baby, their language and needs.
In the meantime, you are also learning who you have become as a person.
Hence, maybe you are learning also who you have become as a partner, as well.
Probably you will look at this page when the Kraamzorg is already gone and maybe your partner has to go back to work, being tired themselves as well.
If you are an expat, you probably will not even have your family near by to help you.
Altogether, might feel overwhelming! I’ve been there. That’s normal!
This is the moment in time when a post natal doula might meet your needs. From many clients, this role has been defined as a blissful gift.
The general goal of a postnatal doula is helping the new born family in getting the daily routine running again, slowly slowly, now with a new member. New parent’s main goal in the first 6 weeks (40 days) after birth is just focus on their recovery and their baby.
Here’s what I can help with:
- grocery shopping
- cooking ***
- doing laundry
- doing the dishes
- vacuum cleaning
- help you relax
- taking care of the baby while you enjoy some “me-time”
- and, last but not least, I will listen to your birth story and help you process your birth experience.
Mothering the mother!
*** what we eat in the post partum period is essential on how fast our body will recover from birth. I base the food I cook on the principles described on this book
